Your Long Pants Decieve You…

“Wapiti Meadow”, 11×14 oil on canvas board, by Rog Lyngaas, 24feb09, X6 palette.

There was a rustle, as your heart pounded when you approached the pass.  Hiking at high altitude can challenge the senses.  Can quiet occur if you wear long pants?  Perhaps not.  This is why, for the skilled hunter, wool knickers are the ticket to the quiet travel.   Sure you can be still and be quiet, but how can you when you travel.

Today’s painting shows you the absence of the Elk [Wapiti, in American] in the meadow you have approached.  The hike was worth it.  But it would have been worth more if you had worn your wool knickers.  For then, you could have seen the Elk.

Ever notice that no one in Hawaii wears long pants.  They could be the greatest hunters of all.  You see, they can sneek up on us.  I suppose, according to Scholars in 40 years, that is how President Obama snuck up on us.  It really is hard to believe it has happened so peacefully.  Perhaps we really should give peace a chance.

If you would like to, I would suggest you start by meditating on the landscape paintings of your choice.  Bring in the calm, even if there is a storm in the art.  Drink from its water, even if the spring is not pure water.  Walk the long trek with one side of one’s face red from the slap of the wind; the challenge to peace.  If peace does not come to your heart, then others will suggest you pray for world peace.  What I may suggest is you just decide not to prey on world peace.  By not being selfish, you may push towards world peace.
